Riobamba
Latin Kitchen
our story
Founded in 2016 by brothers Mike and Tony Andino, Riobamba was created to showcase the flavors of their Latin American heritage. Family meals were a huge part of growing up in the Andino household, with a mother from Italy and a father from Ecuador there was always something delicious working in the kitchen.
OUR Chef's
MIKE ANDINO
Co-Founder of Riobamba 2016
Mike's path to a culinary career started at Kendall College in 2002 where he was classically trained while working at Convito Italiano in Wilmette. He then cooked his way through southern Italy and returned with great passion and knowledge of everything Italian. He has been in charge of kitchens all over the Chicago area including Trattoria 225 in Oak Park, Blue Star Wine Bar in Chicago, and Gusto Italiano in Glenview. While working with mostly Hispanic teams for 14 years he developed a tremendous passion for Latin flavors and would pursue that passion on his days off from the Italian kitchens he ran. Until the spring of 2016 when he teamed up with his brother to start Green Go Gourmet, Glenviews first food truck.
TONY ANDINO
Co-Founder of Riobamba 2016
The food culture of Ecuador was instilled in Tony at a young age. The highlight of his many trips to Ecuador throughout his childhood was always the amazing foods he would get from little shacks or even bicycles on the side of the road on the way to his family's banana plantation.Guided by cousin Jorge they would plan their days around meals, even driving hours to the coast to get the most amazing crab and ceviches. He would always be the first to volunteer to help families prepare traditional fare for fiestas and holidays. His love for traditional Ecuadorian cuisine is what sparked the transition from the "Taco truck" to Riobamba Latin Kitchen.
